Knock Knock

Per an adage popularly attributed to Benjamin Franklin, “Guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days”—and in the films in this series, depicting power struggles between hosts and their callers, expected and otherwise, the time it takes for things to get real pungent is often considerably less. A series of psychological tug-of-war narratives in which a ring at the front door acts as the opening bell in a slugfest struggle for control over the homestead, featuring darkening-the-doorstep drop-ins from Pier Paolo Pasolini, Darren Aronofsky, Charles Burnett, and other surprising cinematic company.
