An almost unbelievable trifecta of talent comes together for this contemporary spin on the old art-house omnibus film. Michel Gondry’s “Interior Design” leaps from the quotidian to the magic-realist in following a young provincial woman moving in with her amateur filmmaker boyfriend; Leos Carax’s “Merde” introduces Denis Lavant’s sewer-dwelling, maniacal holy terror Monsieur Merde, later to reappear in his 2012 Holy Motors, stalking subterranean Tokyo, wreaking havoc, and gobbling up yen; Bong’s “Shaking Tokyo” is a delicately imagined romance between a hikikomori shut-in only connected to the world by telephone and a pizza-delivery girl.
