In the course of moving, Albanian art student Sala stumbles across an unexpected find with still more unexpected contents —a 20-year-old reel of 16mm film, containing silent footage of an Albanian Communist Party congress, and of his own mother, then a leader of the Communist Youth Alliance, giving a public speech and an interview.

What follows is Sala’s quest to recover his mother’s lost words, a winding journey that ends with a brief resurrection of a dead Yugoslavia, and an emotional collision of past ideals and present confusion.
