CITIZEN BLUE

Educator, filmmaker, public television pioneer, activist, tireless campaigner for regional film arts organizations and “democratized media”—James Blue was all of these things in the course of his 50-year life. Dan Miller and Suzanne Clark’s documentary, which houses a wealth of archival footage and original interviews, reflects Blue’s many facets. A heroic, necessary effort to remind us of the legacy of a principled, passionate American film artist who was always doing something different, yet was consistent in his searching for ways that media could be used to do some bit of good in the world.
