Mahamat-Saleh Haroun tells the story of his native Chad’s troubled history not from the battlefield front lines, but at poolside. Adam (Youssouf Djaoro) is a former swimming great now working with his son (Diouc Koma) at a resort hotel, but when corporate intervention puts Adam in a job below his station, his own flesh and blood becomes his competition. An elegant, minimalist character study, and one of the best films of the new millennium.
