Taking its title from the date on which two teenagers of Mauritanian and Tunisian origin were killed while fleeing from police in the Paris suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois, Straub and Huillet’s short film surveys the scene of this tragedy, with the filmmakers offering a mournful rejoinder to Roberto Rossellini’s Europa ’51.
