The penultimate entry in the Diaspora Suite consists of scenes shot in Hudson, New York, and Accompong, Jamaica, a city founded in 1739 by rebel slaves whose leader, Cudjoe, rallied his troops under a storied mango tree, still standing today, from which Asili’s film takes its title.
