Daniel Schmidt's Dream Double Feature

November 22 to November 23

The New Haven-born Schmidt belongs to a loosely affiliated, hydra-headed group of collaboration-minded young filmmakers—among them his The Unity of All Things (2013) co-director Alexander Carver, Benjamin Crotty, and Gabriel Abrantes—who’ve collectively been rattling the cages of film culture for more than a decade with their label-defying cinematic provocations. With Schmidt and Abrantes’s Diamantino, which opened at Metrograph earlier in 2019, the duo continued exploring the terrain where pop comedy, avant-garde transgression, and post-colonial political burlesque all intersect. Now, the teamwork-minded Schmidt comes to us all on his own to present a Dream Double Feature of two film that have helped to inspire his most strange and surprising young career.
