The Coen Brothers Present

December 12

Joel and Ethan Coen and Zoe Kazan in person

For over thirty years Joel and Ethan Coen have been a force in American movies, moving through a variety of genres while always maintaining the same distinctive voice, which mixes together the acerbic, acrid, and absurd. With their latest, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, they’ve returned to the sagebrush setting of True Grit (2010), this time finding the American west a bleak and blood-soaked terrain. At Metrograph to present their brutal, beautiful Ballad, they’ll also be presenting, in a carte blanche selection, Raoul Walsh’s The Big Trail (1930), bringing together the best of the classic and contemporary western.
