Alex Ross Perry

February 16 to February 21

With a series of woundingly articulate films, by turns sad, self-flagellating and scabrous, each exhibiting a constant drive towards narrative experimentation and innovation, Alex Ross Perry has gouged out a preeminent place in contemporary American independent cinema, writing his name in acid. To complement our run of Perry’s latest, Golden Exits, a roundelay of emotional confrontations and deflections set among the brownstone Brooklyn set, Metrograph is presenting a retrospective of his work thus far, a distinct and distinguished suite of films informed by both literary and cinephiliac references, but grounded always in prickly emotional truths.
