Acclaimed Broadway dancer and director Wakefield Poole created a sensation when he and producer Marvin Shulman opened their gay adult feature, Boys in the Sand, at the 55th Street Playhouse in New York City in 1971. Starring Casey Donovan in three sexual vignettes, the film made Fire Island an international tourist destination and introduced gay sex positivity to straight audiences.

In 1957 Chase Hook was just 16 years old when he moved to New York City. He worked sporadically as an actor, set designer, photographer, hustler, etc. before discovering his true passion: film making. Chase committed suicide on December 31st, 1979; All of his films were destroyed by his ultra-conservative family. The unprocessed rolls of Super 8 home movies of his were recently found on Fire Island, and with a tape from his answering machine (featuring Alexis Arquette, Michael Musto, Gregg Tucker, and more), this film is a sexy and incredibly sad portrait of Chase’s final days.
