DIRECTOR: ROBERT ALTMAN
CAST: ROBIN WILLIAMS, SHELLEY DUVALL, RAY WALSTON
An infamously troubled and over budget production which involved the construction of an entire fishing village in Malta, today Altman’s evocation of the spirit of E.C. Seger and the Fleischer Bros. can be seen for what it is—a gift of a movie, full of knockabout fun, carried along on a marvelous score by Harry Nilsson and Van Dyke Parks, and featuring Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall in the roles they were born to play, Popeye and Olive Oyl.
