Mary Poppins

1964 / 139min / DCP

DIRECTOR: ROBERT STEVENSON

The greatest and best-loved of the (mostly) live-action accomplishments achieved at Disney when Uncle Walt was still at the helm, few films have less required an introduction—the words “A Spoonful of Sugar” or “Chim Chim Cher-ee” or “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!” should do the trick. Julie Andrews’s airborne nanny brings a magical twinkle, a bit of feminist anarchy, and a breath of fresh air into the bourgeoise Banks home when she comes to care for children Jane and Michael, releasing them from the grip of 1910 London’s typical buttoned-up propriety.

Mary Poppins is screening as part of the series Kid Musicals. Click here for more info.
