HOME FROM THE HILL

1960 / 150min / 35mm

DIRECTOR: VINCENTE MINNELLI

CAST: ROBERT MITCHUM, ELEANOR PARKER, GEORGE PEPPARD , GEORGE HAMILTON

Michael Barker, Co-President & Co-Founder of Sony Pictures Classics, to introduce on July 22.

Robert Mitchum is a brash, blustery Texas cattle baron (and lusty small town stud) trying to make a man of insufficiently-rugged son George Hamilton in Minnelli’s family saga, released on the heels of his better-known Some Came Running, and offering another sensitive study of provincial pressures in midcentury America and the same widescreen prowess applied to the wide open Lone Star state, while echoing the director’s Tea and Sympathy and The Cobweb in its exploration of the smothering oppression of enforced gender roles.

Home from the Hill is screening as part of the series 'Scope in the '60s. Click here for more info.
