DIRECTOR: OTTO PREMINGER

CAST: KEIR DULLEA, CAROL LYNLEY, LAURENCE OLIVIER, NOëL COWARD

Michael Barker, Co-President & Co-Founder of Sony Pictures Classics, to introduce on July 22.

It’s every mother’s worst nightmare: Carol Lynley, a single young American freshly arrived in London, goes to pick up her daughter from preschool, and finds the child has disappeared without a trace. Or did she even exist in this first place? Laurence Olivier’s detective has his suspicions, landlord Noël Coward has his own creepy motives, and brother Keir Dullea is the only friendly face around. Preminger uses the scrolling black-and-white ‘Scope sequence shot to sinister suggestion, the frame slyly contrasted to a very special—and very strange—appearance by The Zombies, rocking out a miniscule pub TV.

Bunny Lake is Missing is screening as part of the series 'Scope in the '60s. Click here for more info.
