DIRECTOR: LARRY COHEN
CAST: ZOë LUND, ERIC BOGOSIAN, BRAD RIJN
A sleazy art film or an arty sleaze film? Who cares when it’s this good! Cohen’s sticky-fingered Vertigo riff utilizes a puzzle box, film-within-a-film structure to spin the seedy story of a Hollywood director who’s seen better days (Eric Bogosian) turning his on-camera murder of a young actress (Ms. 45’s Zoë Lund, here in a double role) into the basis of his latest production, bringing in a lookalike to complete the story and spring the trap on a devious frameup.
Special Effects is screening as part of Metrograph A to Z, a collection of films we think everybody should see.
