Seven Men From Now
DIRECTOR: BUDD BOETTICHER
CAST: RANDOLPH SCOTT, GAIL RUSSELL, LEE MARVIN, WALTER REED
A robbery in a Wild West town leaves the coffers empty and a woman dead. Unfortunately for the perpetrators the woman’s husband is ex-sheriff Bed Stride, played by Randolph Scott, a crack shot with nothing but time on his hands to track them across increasingly forbidding landscapes. The film which began the so-called “Ranown” cycle—collaborations between Boetticher, Scott, producer Harry Joe Brown, and Burt Kennedy—and by some reckonings the cycle’s high watermark.
