Filmmaker-provocateur Caveh Zahedi has made stunning, hilarious doc-fiction for decades, and his latest is a career pinnacle. Produced by award-winning non-profit Brooklyn cable network BRIC TV, The Show About the Show is a hybrid meta-series about persuading BRIC to produce a show whose premise is that every episode will tell the story of the making of the previous episode. Forming what is certainly one of the great independent features of recent memory as it follows a filmmaker unhinged, burning through ideas and relationships at warp speed through seven episodes, The Show About the Show is by turns painfully revealing, more-than-a-little lunatic and an utterly captivating serial. With Caveh Zahedi, Amanda Field, Alex Karpovsky, Eleanore Hendricks, Sam Stillman and many others as “themselves,” and Dustin Guy Defa as the BRIC producer asking himself, “Why Did We Greenlight This?”
