MUSIC - BERNARD HERRMANN

A woman gives violent birth to one hell of an angry baby—which proceeds to murder the delivery room’s doctors and nurses—in the first of many scenes seared on the brains of too-young viewers in Larry Cohen’s entertaining terror classic. With its atmospheric score by Bernard Herrmann and fanged and clawed infant serial-killer, It’s Alive skirts the line between parody and straight-up chiller, and was the first in the cycle of terrific low-budget Cohen horrors, which included God Told Me To, Q: The Winged Serpent, and The Stuff.
