DIRECTOR: GEORGE CUKOR
CAST: JUDY HOLLIDAY, BRODERICK CRAWFORD, WILLIAM HOLDEN
The kept woman of a boorish big-bucks lobbyist (Broderick Crawford), ditsy chorus girl Billie Dawn (Judy Holliday) gets the Pygmalion treatment from William Holden’s journalist-turned-hired-tutor. Once Billie gets to learning, she discovers her knack for it, and her lessons with her handsome mentor gradually go beyond the stuff of textbooks. Garson Kanin’s Broadway hit is staged on Washington D.C. locations by Cukor, who directed the delightful Holliday to an Academy Award.
