DIRECTOR: VINCENTE MINNELLI

CAST: ELIZABETH TAYLOR, RICHARD BURTON, EVA MARIE SAINT, CHARLES BRONSON, MORGAN MASON

The natural beauty and crashing waves of coastal California at Big Sur provide a backdrop to anguished longing when single mother Elizabeth Taylor begins to fall for Richard Burton, headmaster at son Morgan Mason’s boarding school, who unfortunately happens to be married to Eva Marie Saint. A soap operatic return to the familiar Minnellian territory of repressed desire that gave the director a needed late-career hit, replete with Charles Bronson carving a nude effigy of Taylor out of driftwood.
