A ragged, restless, raw psychodrama set over one 36-hour period in Manhattan, Imperioli’s directorial debut is a work haunted by the early, anything-goes spirit of NYC independent filmmaking, in particular the films of John Cassavetes. The lives of five New Yorkers pulled willy-nilly by their insatiable appetites intersect and entangle in a film that summons and sustains a real air of feverish desperation, thanks in no small part to a scarily committed ensemble cast including members of Imperioli’s theatre group Studio Dante, his Sopranos castmates Sharon Angela and Steve Schirippa (you might know them as Rosalie Aprile and Bobby Bacala), Nick Sandow, and Aunjanue Ellis.
Michael Imperioli will be signing copies of his book The Perfume Burned His Eyes following the screening.
