Goodbye First Love

CAST: LOLA CRéTON, SEBASTIAN URZENDOWSKY, MAGNE-HåVARD BEKKE
Screening introduced by Mia Hansen-Løve
Hansen-Løve’s third feature is a candid semiautobiographical confessional following a young woman, Camille (Lola Créton, astonishing) unable to put a teenaged love affair behind her. Goodbye First Love covers eight years of Camille’s life, from adolescence to adulthood, during which her feelings about this unshakable attachment go through myriad changes but never entirely disappear. A study in the abiding presence of past and present loves in our lives—how they can imprison us, and how they can help to nurture a creative instinct.
