DIRECTOR: ALFRED HITCHCOCK

CAST: INGRID BERGMAN, GREGORY PECK

Hitchcock goes in for psychoanalysis in this singular thriller, made under the influence of Sigmund Freud and Salvador Dalí, the latter of whom designed the dazzling dream sequence. Analyst Ingrid Bergman falls for amnesiac patient Gregory Peck—but is there a murderer’s heart lurking beneath that dapper exterior? The delirium only grows more intense and Miklós Rózsa’s theremin-inflected score more urgent as her doubts grow and she draws closer to the truth.
