DIRECTOR: MARISA SILVER
CAST: SARAH BOYD, RAINBOW HARVEST, ALYSSA MILANO, DANNY AIELLO
Screening introduced by Bo Burnham.
Eleven-year-old Lonnie (Sarah Boyd) is a Lower East Side kid who comes from money, while her teenaged pal Karen (Rainbow Harvest) doesn’t come from much of anything at all. At first these opposites attract, but then budding hormones and first crushes further complicate their cross-class relationship, depicted with intelligence and delicacy by director Silver, the daughter of Joan Micklin Silver, who took home the Sundance Grand Jury Prize for this tender and faithful portrayal of female friendship that prefigures Burnham’s work—also the screen debut for a very young Alyssa Milano.
