A glimpse into the process of artist-pranksters Fischli and Weiss, who show their warehouse-contained construction of a massive, teetering structure, seen here in its brief life and jaw-dropping death through planned Rube Goldberg-esque chain reaction. Screening with Remembrance of Things to Come, a cine-essay by the immortal Chris Marker which jumps off from the figure of photographer Denise Bellon, then proceeds by Marker’s usual dazzling associative leaps through surrealism, the National Front, the Spanish Civil War, the 1952 Olympics, and most everything else under the sun.

Screening in the series Icarus Films at 40.
