Made with Ruth Orkin and set in a long-disappeared NYC that stands here as a time capsule, including trips to a vintage Museum of Modern Art and the Bronx Zoo, Engel's lovely second feature returns to the subject of youth discovering the strange ways of adults, this time focusing on a little 7-year-old girl, Peggy, driven to erratic acting out behavior by the prospect of her mother’s possible re-marriage.

Lovers and Lollipops is screening as part of Morris Engel 100.
