DIRECTOR: ALBERT & DAVID MAYSLES AND CHARLOTTE ZWERIN
Barbara Kopple, Rebekah Maysles (President of Maysles Films, Inc.), and Heather Linville (Film Preservationist, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) in person for 7pm screening on Friday, January 26.
Following traveling salesmen for the Mid-American Bible Company from their Boston headquarters to a Chicago convention and on their door-to-door rounds in lower middle-class Opa-Locka, Florida, Charlotte Zwerin and the Maysles brothers not only produced one of the foundational films of the “Direct Cinema” documentary movement, but a compassionate, cutting depiction of an American scene largely untouched by the ongoing counterculture explosion.
Restored by the Academy Film Archive and The Film Foundation, with funding provided by the George Lucas Family Foundation.
