Returning compulsively to draw from the deepest wells of his personal pain, Garrel revisits the death of Nico in this film about a director (Medhi Belhaj Kacem) who’s embarking on a film about an ex-lover who has died from an overdose, only to be drawn into a highly suspect drug deal by producer Michel Subor. The last film to be shot by Raoul Coutard, in stunning black-and-white widescreen.
