Belle de Jour
DIRECTOR: LUIS BUñUEL
CAST: CATHERINE DENEUVE, MICHEL PICCOLI, GENEVIèVE PAGE, PIERRE CLEMENTI
Fashion week is here, and what better way to celebrate than with this once-in-a-lifetime meeting of minds and measurements: Catherine Deneuve wearing Yves Saint Laurent (as she would in every film after), directed by Buñuel. La Deneuve plays Séverine, a frigid bourgeois housewife who unleashes her inner freak when she takes on afternoon assignations at a local brothel, romping with visitors including Pierre Clémenti’s metal-mouthed gangster and a Geisha Club member with a pair of Ben-Wa balls and a mysterious buzzing box… Droll, darkly delicious, and a pillar of Euro screen eroticism.
